This year we invite you to do a cleanup in an area that is safe and accessible to you – wherever you are in the world. Lahaina Town is currently closed but that doesn’t mean you can’t make an impact. Mahalo and Please Stay Safe!
The 19th Annual Lahaina Town Cleanup in conjunction with the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup and Malama Maui Nui’s “Get the Drift and Bag It!” campaign is an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to join in a global effort to remove litter and debris from our coastal environment.

Harnessing the Power of People to Fight Ocean Trash
In partnership with volunteer organizations and individuals around the globe, the International Coastal Cleanup® (ICC) engages people to remove trash from the world’s beaches and waterways. Thanks to millions of volunteers around the world, the ICC has become a beacon of hope, leading and inspiring action in support of our ocean. Since its beginning, more than 17 million volunteers have collected more than 350 million pounds of trash.
#SeaTheChange at the 2023 International Coastal Cleanup
Plastic pollution is a massive problem for our ocean, but even small actions can make a big difference. Every bottle, every straw, every piece of trash you clean up can lead to a cleaner, healthier ocean. Join us this season to clean up your local beach, stream, park or neighborhood. When we clean up our home, all those that live in the ocean can #SeaTheChange.
By participating in the 19th Annual Lahaina Town Cleanup, you can make a difference, right here in your own community. While there will not be an official event this year, you can still make a difference – wherever you are.
When you head out for your own beach cleanup don’t forget to bring a water bottle, gloves, reef safe sunscreen and Aloha!
Over the past 18 years thousands of volunteers have come together to help clean up over 7 square miles of Lahaina Town from the beach to the highway, including two boat harbors, 7 surf spots, and numerous parks with divers, students, parents, and volunteers in the largest longest ongoing Town Clean Up we know of in Hawaii. This year we invite you to carry on the tradition with a solo cleanup (more fun with friends) and we hope that next year we can reconvene for the 20th Annual Lahaina Town Cleanup with an “official event.” Mahalo.
