Holiday Lighting of the Banyan Tree
Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6th and 7th
Tree Lighting at 6:30 pm

 

 



LAHAINA, MAUI -- Come Celebrate the Annual Holiday Lighting of the Banyan Tree! The two day event begins on Saturday, December 6th from 10 am to 7 pm at Banyan Tree Park and continues through Sunday, December 7th from 9 am to 5 pm.

The tree lighting is scheduled for Saturday, December 6th at 6:30 pm. Lahaina Restoration Foundation Executive Director Emeritus Jim Luckey will turn on the thousands of lights on Lahaina's Banyan Tree to mark the beginning of the holiday season. Special lights at the Wharf Cinema Center and Pioneer Inn will be turned on simultaneously.

Beginning at 10am on Saturday, enjoy continuous entertainment, a holiday arts and crafts fair by local artists, activities for kids and the Snow Zone from 3 to 6 pm. Entertainment will include Wilmont Kahaialii Jr., Na Kupuna 'Ohana Serenaders, Lahaina Baptist Church Choir and other groups.

At 3 pm the Snow Zone opens when ten tons of snow arrives! With a donation of one item of nonperishable food, children 2 to 12 can participate in supervised fun in the snow. All food collected will be donated to Lightbringers to help feed the needy of West Maui.

The festivities continue on Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm with arts, crafts and entertainment. Maui Jam, Michael Kollwitz (Chapman Stick) and other entertainers will perform.

The Banyan Tree will be lit every evening throughout the holiday season. For more information call 667-9175.
